I’m Alana LaGrange of Music and You, and I’m known for my arranging composing and teaching.

I've been teaching Piano from novices to experts online since 2000.  Prior, to this, I taught in my own studio and this is where I developed all my teaching methods.

It's true, everyone can learn to take any music, add chords, full right and left hand, and style their own music.

In these classes, we learn how to use chords in arranging, a "Hands on the piano, Live classes,"
teaching you the basics to arranging.

I am not taking any Chances and want to be sure you learn, so..........we will be playing the piano
together every step of the way.
I know how easy it is for busy adults to be pulled away from goals, so I am leaving nothing to chance.  Yes,
it will be an asset to you if you can practice during the week, but...learning hands on step x step during the class
will ensure you can reach your goals.

We are arranging 5 songs from start to finish.  Have you ever seen this before?  Live, hands on the piano
with a master teacher, going through each step just as if you were in private lessons.

I promised to spend the time with you, and here it is.............

The first 3 classes in our 2009 Music Treasures, will give you the tools to play any song, add chords, style,
and accompany singers and play with other musicians.

These 3 classes, Starter Chords, Musical Treasures Arranging, and Advanced substitution chords are the foundation to your playing.  Then we can add more trim and embellishments.

Throughout 2009 we will have more classes, adding to what we are learning now, and best of all, some are going to be FREE.  But.........you are doing the foundation work now.  Free classes will include the advanced version of  'Here there and Everywhere' and 'One Note Samba, but..........you need this class first to know all the basic tools before moving in to advanced work.


I know you have seen this before.  But.......there are usually many steps left out of the lessons, plus
you are not given the step by step how to arrange and play chords in songs. 

There is nothing more powerful than to be next to a professional, going through the complete process.

There are many choices to make when you start arranging and now, you can see exactly how I look
at music and why I make certain chord choices and style choices.

Most of you have already played many of my arrangements, but....have you ever wanted to know why
I have styled a song using a particular left hand or why I have used certain chords?

You will be able to enter into my intimate creative process and experience how I let the music tell me what I want for the end result. 
 

Now, I can share all of my knowledge and tested teaching materials with
everyone.

I am giving you the template and the formulas to learn arranging immediately.
In fact;

• We'll kick of with adding chords to the melodies of 'Moon River' and 'Unchained melody"

• At the Piano: you will be adding the chords yourself and your choice;
• Working with chords & scales in the keys of C and F;

• Adding the Left hand style

• Opening up the chords, How and Why

• Add harmony to the right hand;

• Add beginnings and endings; Adding Runs, Scales and Fill-Ins, Where do I get my notes?

• This one is GOLD.....using the minor scales;

• How to arrange to accompany other singers and musicians;

• Fingering is easy, because when you open up your chords, it dictates your fingering;

• Pedaling is easy, it's so simple when you know why you have to change the pedal;

Ah, music is fun!

So How does this work?

• It's so easy, it's just like being live with your teacher
  
  a) You receive a ...call in number.....and you call in at the designated time.
  b) Or, you can go to a designated page and listen at your computer on the web cam (if you don't have long distance)
  c) Be at your piano, remember...these are live 'At the Piano"

• Immediately upon sign-up, you receive your songs with melody and chords only.  This gives you a 'heads up' so you can start playing the right hand melody.

• You receive all of your music, no extra purchases for music. 

• The classes are recorded in MP3 so you won't miss a thing, or you can review the material because
  Mp3 can easily be downloaded to a CD so you can take the CD to your piano (I have an easy
  how to video to record to CD).
   

• I do recommend you use a speaker phone, or use head phones.  For, those using the internet only, not the telephone, you will have an easy way to type in questions during the class. 
   

Alana, why are you giving all this information at such
a low cost when others are charging more for music and DVD's?

I promised to pass on the work of my teacher, Bud Conway, and it is my ultimate goal for you to have access
to this knowledge and be able to use it in your music.

As a professional, I know you can learn more in a couple of hours in a 'hands on course' then buying all the many
DVD's or learning from a variety of books or teachers.

Now you can learn step by step in the perfect learning curve.

There are very simple basics that lay the foundation for every song you learn, and once you fit the pieces together,
you will have the 'ah ha' moment.

Remember, I was a classical student, and when I started on the journey of arranging, playing blues and jazz, it all
came together for me.  This didn't happen in college, it only happened when I found the right teacher.

Like you, I had practiced scales, arpeggios, fingering, inversions etc., but I knew there had to be a reason to
practice this other than 'just for the fun of practicing.'

Alana, what's included in my Treasures Workshop?

• 7.5  hours of class 'hands on Instruction" 
  I don't teach privately now, but my last hourly rate was $100.00 per hour.  That would
  be $750.00 for this class.

• You will be at your piano, just like being with a private teacher

• All class materials

• All music is included

• 4-6 hours of 'hands on help on Tuesdays, with questions and help.
  Plus, at this time, I can help you with your favorite songs or we can practice together.
  You're in control at the forums, whatever you need.
  
  The Tuesday, open forum calls are scheduled for: June 23, June 30, July 14 & July 21.
   
  The forums have been so much fun and productive, as you can ask questions and we
  even practice together.  I suggest to be on the telephone on these dates so we can work together and I can hear you instantly.

Let’s face the facts. Joining the class will put your feet to fire, and finally you can learn how
to start putting your songs together.
Why?  Because you are writing your own arrangements every step of the way.  I am only the guide.
This is the only way you will learn is to do it yourself.

Class Topics and Schedule

Dates for “Musical Treasures Workshop ” are on Thursdays at 5pm Pacific/8pm Eastern (exceptions noted below). Though I certainly don’t plan to change any of the dates, sometimes unforeseen circumstances can pop up. If there is ever a need for an adjustment, I will do my best to give at least 24 hours notice.

WHY Thursdays?  Tuesday the lines are opened for questions and help.  By having your lesson on Thursday, you
will be ready for personal help or questions by Tuesday.

     All classes are recorded just in case you miss a class + you can have them forever to review & learn.

• June 4   - "Preview Call, Be at your Piano?  Learning Sincerely/mp3 
                  

• June 11-  "Kick Off, If you only have a melody, how do you add chords and start arranging?
   

• June 18 - "Yes, I am giving you all my tips & tricks on adding Runs, Fill-ins and scales.  Yes,
                  we are actually using , major & minor scales, (I bet you thought they were used only for practice
                  fingering. Adding embellishments (scales and runs) to our first 3 songs.            

• June 25 -  “What to do with the right hand and adding the perfect arpeggio in the left hand.
               

                             Let's have a week off for practicing.

• July 9 -  “You've seen this in many songs, the trick using minor scales.” 
                   This will be 2 classes (4 and 5)
                   This is tip and trick that is rarely taught, and will change your playing forever.

• July 16-   “Adding a new style in the right hand,”  with a big open sound!
                    You can use this over and over in your songs.
  
  All classes start at 5:00 P.M. P.S.T.

I will have an open line for help and questions and answers on Tuesdays @ 3:00 P.S.T

  1.  Yes, I am giving you the formulas, but you are doing the work step x step
      right at your piano.  (have pencil and fingers ready)

                2.  Yes, you will be playing the songs exactly as you hear them on the mp3.
                      I promise, with a little practice, you'll sound great!

                3.  Notice also there will be a break in the classes so you have time to practice.

                4.  Each student can choose his/her favorite song to arrange as we go through the
                     classes.  This is the only way to learn, to do it yourself.  (I will help you with your
                      music on our Friday, help calls.)

GOAL- Play any song with BIG SOUNDS, Chords, Runs, and endings.

1. “Starting with only a Melody, how do you add chords & arranging?”
     The foundation for all of the classes. 
    

• A new mind set;  A new way to think about chords and scales and why the old label system
  doesn't work. 
• What you need to know and do before actually playing a song;
• Starting with a melody only, let's add our own chords; 
• At the Piano: you will be adding the chords yourself and your choice;
• Working with chords & scales in the keys of  F;
• How to find the simple progressions the composer took from the scales.
• Using simple 4 note chords, how to add a beautiful descending pattern in the left hand.
• Adding the left hand;  This is the secret of sounding great and playing easy;
  Using a formula and rules, we will add open chords to the left hand, and you will be
  playing them during the class;
• At the Piano: you will be playing each chord in the new positions;
• Adding the pedal to our new sounds;
• What notes do I put in the right hand?
• Oh, this is fun, an ending you can add to any song;
