I’ve seen it over and over….students who have spent 2 years at piano lessons and still can’t play. Isn’t that object, is to play piano?
There are many teachers that are absolutely fabulous, but also many teachers without enough expertise & knowledge that take students only through the beginning stages of reading music and can’t go any further.
What have you been spending your time on?
Are you still trying to play hands together, and going over & over the same measures?
Are you practicing arpeggios but not using them in your music?
Are you practicing scales over & over, but never using them in music?
Can you actually play a song on the piano, especially one that you love?
It doesn’t have to be this way…..
There are simple steps that can get you playing the piano and not just learning how to read music.
5 Steps to Freedom without frustration..
1. Yes, you have to learn to read music, but you can do it in a month
2. Playing hands together can be simple and can be accomplished in a matter of 2 months.
3. Rhythm is easy if you start playing chords and 12 bar blues. You can doe this within 2-3 months and sound great.
4. Hand & Eye co-ordination. Once you start playing rhythm and chords, you can start playing the whole keyboard, and…..develop hand & eye co-ordination.
5. Building finger dexterity and strength. This comes when you start grouping notes together. Yes, it comes from finger exercises, but also from
playing more advanced music. This can be accomplished quite easily from
an experienced teacher. Instead of building strength only from finger exercises, you can also accomplish this by playing music. As I teacher, I add special techniques into your songs, so not only are you actually ‘playing the piano’, but also are developing your co-ordination and strength.
Let’s get rid of the old myths that it takes years to learn piano, because you can be playing quite well in a short period of time. This doesn’t mean that you won’t get the correct foundation, it just means that if we learn in a different sequence, it’s much faster, and you can have
success in a shorter amount of time.
